Mrs. Irene Alta Schuler, 87, of Burlington, died at 3:07 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Great River Medical Center.
Born February 24, 1926 in Ursa, Illinois, she was the daughter of Fred F. and Alta Shull Jones. On February 10, 1942 she married Frank D. Hull in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1987. On January 1, 1996 she married Robert Schuler in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mrs. Schuler worked in home care for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Golden Oldies, Hawkeye Native, Senior Citizen Center in Burlington, and the Moose Lodge and V.F.W. Lodge 10102 Women's Auxiliary. She loved to travel and lived for dancing. In retirement she painted residents nails at Klein's Center.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Schuler of Burlington; two sons, Ronald Lee Hull of Iowa City and Richard Dale (Donna) Hull of Burlington; two daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Brissey of Burlington and Shirley (Lester) Rhodes of West Burlington; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
According to Mrs. Schuler's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and Burlington Wilbert Crematory.
