Floyd Everett Housman, 83, of Yarmouth, died Friday, November 17, 2006, at his home. Born November 20, 1922, in Yarmouth, he was the son of Glen and Pearl Conn Housman. On September 10, 1942, he married Helen Laurene Butcher in Morning Sun. He was a 1942 graduate of Yarmouth High School. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Yarmouth Gun Club, Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed trap shooting, hunting and trapping. He had won the state trap shooting championship. He owned and operated a small private airplane. He farmed a Century Family Farm. Survivors include his wife of Yarmouth; two sons, Anthony "Tony" Housman of Wapello and Nathan Housman of Yarmouth; one daughter, Pearl Bauder of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Housman of New London; and one sister, Lois Robbins of Wapello. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Housman will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Burial will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Yarmouth First Responders and Meciapolis Ambulance Service.
