Emily M. Horn, 90, of Burlington, died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born October 22, 1917, in Wever, she was the daughter of Edward and Lottie Marsh McGinity. In 1954 she married Carl Horn in Burlington. He died March 5, 1992. Mrs. Horn worked in production at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, retiring in 1971. She attended Salvation Army services when she was younger. She enjoyed making homemade noodles, reading, crossword puzzles, soap operas, playing cards, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Penney of Mediapolis and Donna Russell of Burlington; one son, Gene Horn of California; 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virgie Brown of Burlington. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Horn will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
