Helen Coffin Hols, 84, of Burlington, died at 12:11 PM, Friday, August 25, 2006, at the Great River Medical Center, Klein Center in Burlington. Born November 28, 1921, in Farmington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lonnie A. Coffin, MD and Greta Harmon Coffin. On October 18, 1944, she married William T. Hols in Farmington, Iowa. He died February 25, 1997. Mrs. Hols was a 1940 graduate of Farmington High School and a 1943 graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Administration. She was a Medical Secretary at Farmington Clinic for 21 years. She had owned and operated the Hols Insurance Agency with her husband in Farmington. She was a member of Farmington Methodist Church, Alpha XI Delta Sorority where she was past president, a 64 year member of Chapter O of PEO where she was a past president, had been a Girl Scout leader for 13 years, and was instrumental in organizing the Senior Citizen Program in Farmington. She was also involved in many other organizations and volunteer work over the years. Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Hols Krekel of Burlington; one granddaughter, Molly (Matt) Steinbrech of Solon, IA; one great-grandson, Weston Steinbrech; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Shriver of Iowa City, IA; and one niece and two nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Erik, one infant granddaughter, one son-in-law, Gene Krekel, one sister, Betty Millen and three nephews. As per the wishes of Mrs. Hols, her body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. The Graveside Committal Service and Inurnment for Mrs. Hols will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 28, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Kendall Adams officiating. Those planning to attend the service are asked to meet at the Corse Street entrance of the cemetery by 10:50 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hope Haven and Great River Hospice. The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
