Bernice Holmberg, 88, of Burlington, died at 12:15 AM Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Great River Hospice House.
Born October 27, 1927, in Speaker Township, MI, she was the daughter of Otto E. and Jean E. Wright Amon. In 1949 she married Roy L. Holmberg in Speaker Township, MI. He died on August 28, 2007.
Bernice was a homemaker and worked for TWA Airline for three years.
She was a graduate of Yale High School in Michigan
She was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ and was active in the church. She was a member and past president of P.E.O. Chapter KB. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Alan Roy (Chris) Holmberg of Sonoma, CA; one daughter, Lisa Ann (Bob) Hart of Cape Coral, FL; and six grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in by death her parents, two sisters, Maxine Stamates, Joyce Barr, and one brother, Rex Amon.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
The memorial service for Mrs. Holmberg will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Peggy Stott officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory following the service. A private family burial will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ and the Great River Hospice House.
