Mrs. Marcella "Marcy" A. Hollingsworth, 88, of Burlington died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Blair House.
Born December 30, 1924 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Sam and Lillian Nelson Logan. On December 11, 1941 she married James K. "Holly" Hollingsworth in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1995.
Marcy was a lifetime resident of Des Moines County. She was a graduate of Yarmouth High School and had worked at Sylvania Electric and was also bookkeeper for her husband's business, Holly's Main DX Service.
Marcy was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eagles, Moose and VFW 10102 Auxiliaries, AARP, and a past member of EC Blackmar Chapter 545 of Order of Eastern Star. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary for which she served as an officer for seven years. She enjoyed bowling, Prime Time, playing cards and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Hollingsworth of Burlington and Larry (Kathy) Hollingsworth of Craig, Colorado; one daughter, Janice (Charles) Post of Fountain Hills, Arizona; three grandsons, Aaron Post, Justin Hollingsworth and Tyler Hollingsworth; four great grandchildren; one sister, Marge Holsteen of Omaha, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, infant son and infant grandson.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, October 11th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hollingsworth will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Mark Schowalter officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Blair House Activity Fund and Great River Hospice.
