Born August 7, 1937, in Burlington he was the son of Carl and Cecil Bradfield Holcomb. On May 27, 1957, he married Gloria LaVerne May in Norfolk, VA. She died October 24, 1995. Mr. Holcomb was a truck lines manager. He served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Doug Holcomb of Burlington, Lester Holcomb of Matherville, IL and Mike Holcomb of Milan, IL; two daughters, Becky Griggs of Burlington and Le Nora Jean Cresswell of Ft. Worth, TX; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Robert Holcomb of East Grandforks, MN; two sisters, Betty Setterberg of Burlington and Evelyn Schroeder of Burlington and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one sister. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 3, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. The Graveside Committal Service and Interment for Mr. Holcomb will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 3, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. A memorial has been established.
