Robert "Bud" H. Hoelzen, 85, of Burlington, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Uniersity of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born Aug. 20, 1915, in Burlington, he was the son of Herbert and Lydia Hansen Hoelzen. On June 16, 1941, he married LaVerne Bodkin in McLemoresvilly, Tenn. Mr. Hoelzen was maintenance supervisor for Winegard Co. for 25 years. He retired in 1981. He was a 1935 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael Hoelzen of Arlington, Texas, Randall Hoelzen of West Salem, Wis., David A. Hoelzen of Burlington, and Steven Hoelzen of Peoria, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Irma Wheeler of La Platta, MD, Alice Beck of Danville, and Doris Fehseke of West Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Oak Street Baptist Church. The funeral for Mr. Hoelzen will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Presley officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
