Dale R. Hockett, 85, of Burlington, died at 10:35 AM Friday, July 24, 2015, at the The Madison in Fort Madison.
Born December 28, 1929, in Mt Pleasant, IA, he was the son of Gilbert L. and Melissa M. Wienike Hockett. On July 15, 1950, he married Odetta Siefken in Dodgeville, IA.
Dale retired in 1992 from General Electric, after 30 years.
He was a member of SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington. His devotion and adoration to his wife, Odetta, second-only to his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dale enjoyed driving and vehicles of all types. Specifically those of latter years. Many summer vacations were spent in Hayword, WI on Lake Grindstone, where family memories were made.
Survivors include his wife, Odetta; one son, David (Sherri) Hockett of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren, Zachary (Laura) Hockett, and twins, Tanner and Tiffany Hockett; one brother, Rev. Gilbert L. (Carol) Hockett, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Barbara (Lyle) Ireland of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee and Eddie, and one sister Viola.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, July 27, 2015, at Thielen Funeral Home. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the visitation.
The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Hockett will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Rev. Father David G. Steinle as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center following the burial.
