Betty Elaine Hobbs, 85, of Burlington died at 4:48 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Great River Medical Center, Klein Center. Born Sept. 15, 1921, in Frankfort, Ind., she was the daughter of Emil and Lucille Leidig Christensen. On Nov. 15, 1941, she married Ralph "Jack" Hobbs in Burlington. He died Sept. 22, 2001. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Hobbs Plumbing and Heating in Burlington. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a 1939 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She was a member of Eastern Star. She was a Giri Scout leader. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in the kitchen. Survivors include one son, Jack Hobbs of Burlington; one daughter, Susan Daitey of Elgin, Minn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter. Visitation with family will be one hour prior to the service Thursday in Prugh's Chapel.The funeral for Mrs. Hobbs will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will be inAspen Grove Cemetery.A memorial has been established for the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
