Obituary
Bryan Bauer was remembered by classmates this morning during the all-school awards assembly.
Bauer, 15, Burlington Rt. 1, was killed when his bicycle and a car collided on US 61 Wednesday, May 28.
Funeral will be at St. Luke United Church of Christ at 10 am Saturday, the Rev. Ernest Ellmers officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
At the assembly, the track team presented a plaque to the school and dedicated the trophies the won during the year to his memory. Bryan, a distance runner, was to have received his class of ’83 numerals and track certificate. They were accepted by the family.
The student council will send flowers to the funeral and intends to give the family close to $250 for a memorial fund.
The last edition of the Apollo student newspaper was dedicated to Bryan, who was a staff writer. The paper was already printed, so the students added that memorial as a cover sheet.
It read, in part: “You will always be special to so many of us. We thank God for our times together and the happiness you gave us. The class of ’83 will always remember you in our hearts. We will miss you.”
The youth was the son of Gary and Jeannette Hobbes Bauer and was born April 17, 1965, in Burlington. He was confirmed at St. Luke's church three days before his death. He was in the ninth grade at Apollo and was a member of the Boy Scouts.
Surviving: the parents; brothers and sisters, James and Dawn and twins David and Carol, all at home; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. LJ Bauer, Burlington Rt. 1, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hobbs, Burlington.
