Bud Brobston, 73, of Burlington, died at 4:21 am Thursday, October 11, 2012, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.Born March 16, 1939, in Columbus Junction, IA, he was the son of Howard Owen and Evon Lucetta Ferrell Brobston. Bud was retired. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include three sons, Destry Brobston of Cat Spring, TX, Buddy (Stacy) Brobston of Port O' Connor, TX, and Truie (Katie) Brobston of Madison, WI; two daughters, Shawna (David) Platow of Humble, TX, and April Brobston of Galesburg, IL; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Kenneth Brobston of Vermont, IL, Dennis Brobston of Middletown, IA, and David Brobston of Dallas City, IL; one sister, Patricia Brobston of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Faye, and one brother, Raymond "Tony". The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday, October 15, 2012, at Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mr. Brobston will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 15, 2012, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Langner officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
