Obituary

Shirley Audreen Hines, 80, of Burlington died at 2:57 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Sept. 1, 1926, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Earl F. and Eleanor Walden Fulton. On Oct. 1, 1947, she married Thomas Oliver Hines in Burlington. He died July 25,2000. Mrs. Hines was a registered nurse and worked at Burlington Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Continuation Care Center. She was a 1944 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1947 graduate of the Burlington Hospital of Nursing. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She belonged to the Mary Circle, Jane Delano, Girls of '44, and the Antique Mermaids. Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Watson, Tamara Behne and Megan Hines, all of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son and one grandson. Visitation will begin after noon Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Hines will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Special Needs Foundation.
