Former Burlingtonian Dr. Richard Armstrong, 54, Bybee, Ky., died in Lexington (Ky.) Hospital Wednesday, Sept.9. He was born Dec. 16,1926, at Kirksville, Mo., to Frederick and Tina Muder Armsrong. He married Betty M. Swanson in Burlington May 31, 1953. He was a former chairman of the sociology department at Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond; a WWII Army veteran and a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Surviving: The wife; two sons, Thomas and Michael, both at home; brother Roderick Armstrong, Burlington; and two sisters, Margaret Altinberger, Orono, Me., and Frances Ray, Galesburg, Ill. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday in Prugh's Chapel, the Rev. Arthur B. Campney; Aspen Grove Cemtery.
