Elizabeth "Betty" Mary Hill, 90, of Burlington, died at 12:24 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 30, 1910, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Mary Gerlach Berges. On June 16, 1934, she married Harold Stanley Hill in Evansville, Ind. He died July 10, 1985. Mrs. Hill was a homemaker. She was a lifelong resident of Burlington. She was a 1928 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of Theta Pi and Ruth Circle of Women's Fellowship of St. Luke, and the Ruth Circle of King's Daughters. She loved sewing and quilting.. Survivors include one son, Robert Hill of Burlington; one daughter, Barbara Griffin of Burlington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eicher-Sheagren Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. A graveside service for Mrs. Hill will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at St. Luke United Church of Christ. A memorial has been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ.
