Mark Anthony Kaltefleiter, 50, of Burlington, died Thursday, February 28, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident..
Born November 20, 1962, in Burlington, he was the son of Paul Marvin and Barbara Louise Schulte Kaltefleiter.
Mark was a custodian at the State Historical Museum of Iowa.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from 1981 until 1984. He was in the U.S. Navy Reserves until 1987.
He enjoyed going to water exercise, trips to the casino, spending time outdoors, camping, bike riding, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include two brothers, Patrick (Diann) Kaltefleiter of Burlington, and Michael (Kathy) Schulte of Blue Grass, IA; three sisters, Beth Wilson, Lisa (Jeff Hand) Harris, and Margie (Allen) Neff all of Burlington; 12 nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; one aunt, Virginia Schulte of Fort Madison, IA; and his special friend, Suzie Martz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, and one uncle. His mom, Barbara Higgs, and their close friend Katie Newton died in the accident with him.
Cremation has been entrusted to Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mr. Kaltefleiter will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Dean Graber officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
