Martha Virginia Hester, 78, of Branson, formerly of Burlington, died at 1:19 AM Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at her home in Branson.
Born June 3, 1938, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Maurice and Daisey Heintze Herr. On June 29, 1958, she married Gerald Boyd Hester in Burlington. He died November 1, 2013.
Martha worked for Clarks Discount Store, Cooks Discount Store, Miller Photo Lab, K-Mart, Zales Jewelry, Spencer Gifts and Sears. She retired in 2014.
She loved to travel, watching HGTV, travel and house shows and reality television. Martha and her husband and children raised AKC German Shepherds for over 30 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Gina (Patrick) Gorrell of Springfield, MO; one son, Roger Boyd (Ann) Hester of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Kathleen (Jamie) Gorrell, and Lance Edward Hester.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM with the family to receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hester will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
