Mr. Robert Franklin Aringdale, 76, of Burlington died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.Born July 24, 1935 in Louisa County, he was the son of Frank Harris and Eunice Metzger Aringdale. On June 12, 1972 he married Mary E. Dankwardt at St. John's Catholic Church in Burlington. Mr. Aringdale was a Wapello High School graduate. He worked for ten years with his father on the farm, ten years at U.S. Gypsum Plant and at J.I. Case Company for 14 years. Mr. Aringdale was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. He liked being on the river and enjoyed fishing, boating at Lake Geode, attended games at all 30 major league stadiums and traveled to all states except Alaska. He also volunteered at Great River Medical Center and Burlington Public Library.Survivors include his wife, Mary Aringdale of Burlington and ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, February 6th, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends following a 6 p.m. Rosary Recitation until 8 p.m.The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Aringdale will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 7th, in St. John's Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Anthony Herold will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
