Obituary
Ruth Amelia Hemann, 93, of Burlington, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Great River Medical Center-Klein Center in Burlington. Born Aug. 26, 1917, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Federick William and Amelia Hippe Hemann. Miss Hemann worked 10 years for Benner Tea Co. and 33 years for Dwight Insurance Agency, later Dwight-Naylor. She graduated from Burlington High School of 1935, and attended the College of Commerce for one year. She was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, and Friendship Club. She enjoyed babysitting, dogs, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Hawkeye football, needlework, cooking, and time with family. Survivors include two nephews, John Hemann of Cedar Rapids and Richard Hemann of Albany, Calif.; three nieces, Karen Hemann of Coraville, Ann Novotny of Walker, and Marcia Moeller of Salem, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. No visitation is planned. The graveside funeral for Miss Hemann will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ.
