John Frederick Helg, 82, of 101 Ballard, West Burlington, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. He was born June 16, 1903, in Rock Island, Ill., to John Jacob and Augusta Louisa Krause Helg. He married Margaret Franz Marshall June 16, 1938, in West Burlington. He was a retired electrical engineer for the federal government, was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church, VFW, and Moose and Eagles lodges. Surviving: One daughter, Joanna Helg Bloem, Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Prugh's Chapel, the Rev. Mr John D. Cornish officiating: Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the West Burlington United Methodist church.
