Jean Edna Anhalt, 72, of Wapello, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 1996, at Wapello Nursing Home. Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence and Anna Gerdner Bischoff. She married Phillip T. Anhalt on Aug. 22, 1942, in Burlington. He died June 4, 1990. Mrs. Anhalt was a homemaker and worked in food service at Burlington Community Schools. She was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ and Circle Square B square dance club.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Richards of Cedar Rapids and Linda Davis of Wapello; two sons, Phillip "Tom" Anhalt of Burlington and William A. "Bill" Anhalt of Washington; three sisters, Margaret Pierson of Burlington, Fern Taeger of Anaheim, Calif., and Virginia Williams of Hemet,Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Mrs. Anhalt will be 11 a.m. Friday in Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Bernie Weir officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Alzheimer's research.
