Beloved mother and friend, Deloris A. (Peck) Hecox, started her journey home January 18, 2014, after a courageous battle with lymphoma.Daughter of Lee and Edna (Baxter) Peck, Deloris was born and raised in Burlington. After graduating from Burlington High School she attended Burlington Business School. Deloris worked for the Lagomarcino Group Company for 5 years before marrying Francis H. Hecox in 1944 in Abilene, TX before he joined the military and left for Europe in WWII. Deloris and Francis later divorced after 41 years. Deloris enjoyed life, was a member of Martha Cowle's Circle of Kings Daughter, a member of Soroptomist, an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and her church circle since a teenager.Deloris is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Dee Ann Hecox. She is survived by her brother, Robert Peck of Indianola, IA; two children, Roger (Beth) Hecox of Burlington and Cheri Hecox of Minneapolis, MN; one grandchild, Ryan (Sara) Hecox of Burlington and two great grandchildren, Grace and Evan Hecox and many nieces and nephews.Deloris loved being a mother and she truly exemplified that nature to all her family and friends that knew her.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, January 23rd, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.The funeral service for Deloris will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 24th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Trevor Davis officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.A memorial has been established for Grace United Methodist Church.
