Obituary

Walter Woellhaf, 65, of 705 Harrison, died suddenly at 2:35 a.m. Monday, after suffering a heart attack at Meridian, Miss. He had been on a trip to visit his daughter at Butler, Ala. Born in Burlington March 24, 1895, he was the son of John and Lucy Salzburger Woellhaf, and was married to Mable Gough. Woellhaf operated a coal company here for a number of years until his recent retirement, and at one time had worked for the Rand Lumber company. He was a World War I veteran, a member of Malta Lodge 318 Af&AM, Elks, VFW, Eagles and Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Betty Haynes of Butler; two brothers, Harry Woellhaf of Burlington and Albert, Knoxville, and two grandsons. The body arrived in Burlington Tuesday. Services will be scheduled later. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
