Shirley Lou Clark Schaefer, 81, of Burlington, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Burlington Care Center. Born June 17, 1926, she was the daughter of Howard and Ruth Joy Rhoads Clark. On Aug. 4, 1946, she married Richard W. Schaefer at First United Methodist Church in Burlington. Mrs. Schaefer was an office manager for Clark Drug Store. She was graduate of Southeastern Community College. She was a member of P.E.O. for 47 years. She was a member of Burlington Golf Club, TTT, a former member of Stars and Stripes Chapter of D.A.R. She enjoyed playing bridge and golfing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, one daughter; Cynthia S. (Daryl) Brown of Burlington, one son; Rick (Carolyn) Schaefer of Burlington, one grandson; Mathew (Sarah) McKee of Burlington, and four nephews; Jim Clark, John Clark, Tom and (Sandy) Clark and Daniel W. (Leslie) Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends. The funeral for Mrs. Schaefer will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Charles J. Downing officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice and P.E.O. Cottey College Scholarship Fund.
