Clarence C. Hartman, 82, of 1400 S. Garfield, died at 8:38 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Burlington Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1895, the son of Kosmos and MInnie Hartman. He married Ruth Hertel August 30, 1921, at Burlington. He was a former commissioner of public safety, and served on the Burlington police force for 25 years. He was an Army veteran of World War I, a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks and the American Legion. Surviving: the wife, one daughter, Mary Rose Fremont, Mich.; one son, Robert Hartmann, Syracuse, New York. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Prugh's Chapel, Rev. Robert Buhr, Aspen Grove cemetery.
