Obituary
Mr. Osro "Os" O. Dabney, 97, of Burlington, died 7:55 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Burlington Care Center.
Born January 27, 1920 in Bloomfield, IA, he was the son of Francis Newton and Bessie (Johnson) Dabney. He married Marjorie Dabney, they later divorced. He then married Vivian Jean Taylor on November 4, 1967 in Mundelein, IL. She died January 8, 2010.
Os was a truck driver for Arledge Transfer, Ellis Distributing, Doran Transfer, a Bus Driver for Trailways, and the Burlington Bee's.
He was a member of First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ, Moose Lodge #579, VFW #10102, Teamsters Local #218 and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, the 32nd Division Veterans Association and the American Legion.
He was an Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient of World War II.
Survivors include four daughters; Becky Jean (Arlan) Bangs, Bobby Fern Link and Barb Wallace Kirby, Connie Dabney all of Burlington; two sons, Charles D. Dabney of Omaha, NE and Ronald D. (Dee Dee) Dabney of Twin Falls, ID; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, two sisters, two half- sisters, three brothers, and two half- brothers.
The funeral service for Mr. Dabney will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. David Yonker will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services.
A memorial has been established for First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ.
