Alice Emma Harris, 96, of West Burlington died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Great River Medical Center. Born July 24, 1910, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jacob John and Flora Rolf Schlagel. On Aug. 20, 1932, she married Gerald R. Harris in West Burlington. He died Aug. 16, 1983. Mrs. Harris worked at Northwestern Cabinet Co. and Airway Vacuum Co. She was a 1929 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she was the organist for more than 40 years. She was a member of Women's Fellowship Group, King's Daughters, and a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star -- E.C. Blackmar Chapter. She enjoyed playing piano, sewing, crocheting and traveling. Survivors include one son, Robert Harris of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Myrna Kent of Elmhurst, Ill.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one son. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Harris will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ in West Burlington, with the Rev. Dean Moberg officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Great River Medical Center Klein Center staff.
