Betty Arlene White, 75, of Burlington, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 20, 1933, in Biggsville, Ill., she was the daughter of Leland and Pearl Sawyer Dodd. She married James E. White in 1978. Mrs. White worked at Great River Medical Center since 1981. She was a 1951 graduate of Dallas City High School. She lived most of her life in Dallas City, moving to Burlington in 2000. She was a member of Burlington Baptist Church. She enjoyed working with the public. Survivors include her husband; five children from a previous marriage, Rodney Sartorius of Dallas City, Rhonda Sartorius of Boynton Beach, Fla., Byron Sartorius of Ocala, Fla., Michael Sartorius of Flower Mound, Texas, and Rick Sartorius of Mount Pleasant; three stepdaughters, Kay Barr of Cheyenne, Wyo., Gwen Penton of Alamogordo, N.M., and Julia Fox of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Dodd of Dallas City; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, one brother, two sisters and three nephews. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. White will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Kendall Adams officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Burlington Baptist Church and Great River Hospice House.
