David Patrick Hanrahan, 59, of Burlington died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, May 3,2007, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, of a heart attack. Born April 21, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of William J. Jr. and Virginia Jones Hanrahan. He was a graduate of Wichita E. High School (Kan.), Wichita State University and attended one year of medical school. He was a captain in the Air Force for five years. He attended First Assembly of God Church. He loved to attend football, baseball, and basketball games. He loved pets, going to the library and city council meetings, and working outside in the yard. Survivors include one brother, William J. Hanrahan III of Topeka, Kan.; and local relatives, Suzanne Butler, Lynn Carlson, Doran Schmeiser, Janet Sorenson, Frank Jones and Georgia Schmieser, all of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The funeral for Mr. Hanrahan will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Crawford officiating. Interment will be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery with fall military honors conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials have been established for Noah's Ark Child Care and Burlington Humane Society.
