Alfred Arthur Weicher, 87, of Burlington, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, at Burlington Medical Center. Born April 14, 1910, in Burlington, he was the son of John and Rosena Messmer Weicher. On June 17, 1935, he married Helen Ruth Hanrahan in Burlington. Mr. Weicher worked for Iowa Southern Utilities Co. (IES) for 46 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Flint Hills Golf Course and Blackhawk Hunting and Fishing Club. He was an avid golfer and outdoor sportsman. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judith Ann Reardon of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mary Beth Bennett of Burlington and Barbra Susan Wolf of Englewood, Calif.; one son, Michael Weicher of Burlington; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Prugh's Chapel. . A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Weicher will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerry Stouvenal officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Burlington Area Catholic Schools.
