Gilbert Arthur McAninch, 60, of Stronghurst, Ill., died at 10:35 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at his home. Born April 17, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of Joseph and Mickie Jaeger McAninch. Mr. McAninch worked as an auto mechanic. He was of the Protestant faith. He served in the Army during Vietnam and was a member of AMVets. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, working on cars and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his mother; one son, Michael McAninch of Burlington; one daughter, Dawn Stewart of Stronghurst, Ill.; one brother, Joe McAninch of Woodburn, Ore.; four sisters, Rita McAninch-Hastings of Minneapolis, Minn., Bonnie Dureen of St. Marces, Calif., Patty Uhlir of Gunthersville, Ala., and Kathy Rossier of Plymouth, Minn.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his father and his grandparents. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Prughs Chapel, where the family will receive friends. The funeral for Mr. McAninch will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at PRugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.
