Mr. Delmar "Gene" Haile, 86, of Burlington died at 7:29 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Blair House.
Born July 5, 1929 in Nevada, IA, he was the son of William P. and Eva C. (Boyd) Haile. On October 29, 1960 he married Eloise Kissinger Hunter. She preceded him in death on November 18, 1994. On June 15, 1996 he married Lois Thomas.
Mr. Haile was a 1947 graduate of Denmark Academy High School. He was an Air Force veteran.
Mr. Haile was a salesman for Blue Star Potato Chip Co., Peter Pan Bread and was a part time bus driver for the city of Burlington.
Mr. Haile was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church and the West Burlington Lions club. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Haile of Burlington; one step daughter, Penny Jo (Dean) Reynolds of Poulsbo, WA, two step sons, Mike (Bev) Hunter of Burlington and Scott Thomas of New London; five step grandchildren, Chris Hunter, Chalen Hunter (Patrick) Daigle, Ben (Heather) Hunter, Zach Thomas and Jed Thomas; five step great grandchildren, Caleb Hunter, Jake Daigle, Lily Hunter, Alex Daigle and Mason Daigle.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise Haile; his parents and two brothers, Don Haile and Boyd Haile.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 24th, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mr. Haile will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 25th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Joyce Proctor officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
