Margie Jane Gugeler, 80, of rural Burlington, died at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at her home. Born June 4, 1931, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence Cameron and Dorothy Loretta Smith Reid. On Feb. 26, 1950, she married Ralph Richard Gugeler in Burlington. Mrs. Gugeler worked for Sylvania and Midwest Biscuit, and baby-sat and ironed for others. She collected angels and redbirds, made crafts and did stamping and made cards. She enjoyed going to craft shows, gardening, traveling to Florida and Alaska to visit family, motorcycle riding and bowling. Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Yvonne Trimble, Norma Hoelzen, and Gail Samuel, all of Burlington, and Sheila Baker of Eagle River, Alaska; two sons, Roger Gugeler of Oquawka, Ill., and Allen Gugeler of Oakville; 16 Grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Reid of Biggsville, Ill., and Jack Reid of Burlington; her twin sister, Mary Timmerman of Stuart, Fla.; niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Gugeler will be at 10 a.m. Friday at West Avenue Baptist Church, with the Revs. Kirk Bennett and Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A time of food and fellowship will be at West Avenue Baptist Church Westwood Center following burial. Memorials have been established for West Avenue Baptist Church and Great River Hospice.
