Edward "Ed" John Guerin, 92, of Burlington, died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center. Born February 5, 1918, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of Michael David and Elizabeth Curran Guerin. On June 4, 1955, he married Margaret Elizabeth Lam in Madison, Wis. She died January 1, 2006. Mr. Guerin worked for Pabst Brewing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He then purchased the Don Pease Co. in 1980. He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He served with the 2nd Armored Division in the Army during World War II. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Survivors include two sons, L. James Guerin of Omaha, Neb., and Robert M. Guerin of San Rafael, Calif.; two daughters, Mary M. Foote of Stilwell, Kan., and Gayle M. Hudson of Forest Park, Ill.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral with military rites for Mr. Guerin will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will follow at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Great River Medical Center Klein Center, and Alzheimer's Association.
