Jean Louise Wiedemeier Green, 86, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, died at Montgomery General Hospital, Olney, Maryland on Thursday, February 9, 2011.
Born on May 26, 1924, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Joseph W. and Katherine Giese Wiedemeier. She married John "Jack" D. Green on April 21, 1946 in Burlington, Iowa. He died in 1969.
Jean retired from AT&T of Cedar Rapids. Later she worked for the Boeing Computer Company as a secretary, supporting NASA, at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. She was a member of American Business Women and Telephone Pioneers of Huntsville, Alabama. She enjoyed playing bridge, mahjong, traveling abroad and spending time with her family. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
She is survived by two sons, John S. Green of Las Vegas, NV and James L. (Diana) Green of Silver Spring, MD; one daughter, Holly Green (Charles Bergold) of Cordova, TN; two grandchildren, Kelly Kristine (Matthew) Fluharty and Scott Austin Green; one step-granddaughter, Jessica Gaudet; one great-grandson, William Lauer Fluharty; and two step-great-grandchildren, Olivia & Madison Gaudet.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral services for Jean Louise Wiedemeier Green will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Prugh's Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Fr. Wayne Kamm will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel.
A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.
