Marie Elizabeth Eberle Grant, 89, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2007, at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis, Iowa.Born September 9, 1917, in Galesburg, Illinois, she was the daughter of Antone "Tony" and May Hattie Weishoupt Eberle. She married Robert Ulysses Grant on November 5, 1939 in Burlington. He died December 29, 2004 Mrs. Grant graduated from Burlington High School in 1936. She had worked at Midwest Biscuit Company and Klein Clothing Store, as well as giving 21 years of service to Jones Park CPA Offices. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, VFW and Rebeckah Circle of King's Daughters. She was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer, sang in the choir, was Sunday School secretary and teacher, and was a member and treasurer of the Women's Mission Organization. She was a bowler for 65 years and a member of the Bowlers Hall of Fame. She enjoyed knitting. Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn (Brendan) Markey of Burlington; five grandchildren, Tracy (Dan) Sharp of Norwalk, Iowa, Julie (Sam) Miller of Bloomfield, Iowa, Rachelle (Steve) Johnson of Excelsior, Minnesota, Erin (Jay) Matushak of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Colin (Sarah) Markey of Chicago, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan and Justyn Sharp of Norwalk, Iowa, Sammy and Ally Miller of Bloomfield, Iowa, Kellen and Grant Matushak of Eden Prairie, Minesota and Riley Johnson of Excelsior, Minnesota; two step-grandchildren, Ben and Brian Johnson of Excelsior, Minnesota; one brother, William "Bud" Eberle of Sandwich, Illinois; several nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Linda Fletcher, and one granddaughter, Shannon Markey. Revs. Marshall Jackman and Tyrone Henderson will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Parkside First Baptist Church.
