Mr. Jerry Jonathan Saldeen, 71, of Burlington died at 1:38 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born October 21, 1941 in Burlington, he was the son of Harry Roderick and Phyllis Ann Hartman Saldeen. On September 7, 1963 he married Patricia Graham in Kirkwood, Illinois.
Mr. Saldeen worked at J.I. Case as an expeditor, retiring in 1992. He attended First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Saldeen was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going to Jerry's Main Lunch and the Hungry Bear. He had an ornery personality with a great sense of humor and knew no strangers. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Saldeen of Burlington; five children, Terry (Lisa) Saldeen, William (Sally) Saldeen, Bob Saldeen, Scott Saldeen and Sheri (Brian) Landstrom; seven grandchildren, Ely Saldeen, Matt Saldeen, Chase (Jill) Saldeen, Brandi (Brandon Diewold) Saldeen, Jonathan Saldeen, Margaret Saldeen and Briana Landstrom; one great grandson, Carter Owen Saldeen; five siblings, Joann (Pat) Mitchell, Susan (Bill) Johnson, Josh (Myrna) Saldeen, Danny Saldeen and Jeff Saldeen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Jack Saldeen.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
According to Mr. Saldeen's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and Burlington Wilbert Crematory.
