Mrs. Lois Edna Graham, 96, of Burlington died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Klein Center of Great River Health Systems.
Born January 14, 1920 in Vandervoort, Arkansas, she was the daughter and oldest child born to A.H. and Irene (Randall) Aleshire. She was previously married and divorced before marrying F. William "Bill" Graham on November 29, 1946 in Needmore, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1998. In 1951 she and Bill and their family moved from Arkansas to Burlington.
As a teenager, Mrs. Graham did domestic work for other families, worked in a grocery store and a hotel. During World War II she worked in a box factory that made boxes for crating bombs. After moving to Burlington she worked at Ross Manufacturing, Sylvania and I.A.A.P. She later cooked and waitressed at various eateries, the Lincolnville Café, IRC Cafeteria, BMC Cafeteria and Van's Lunch Box. She and Bill owned and operated the Midway Café in the 1970's. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her children, camping, going to yard sales and fishing.
She is survived by two daughters, Annette Miller and Dianna (Jim) Hutson and two sons, Larry (LuAnn) Graham and Billy Graham all of Burlington; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; three sisters, D. Jean Wanger of Illinois, T. June Susang of Oklahoma and Veda Ann McKee of Alaska; two brothers, J. Lenard Aleshire and J. Maynard Aleshire both of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Zane; two brothers, J. Howard Aleshire and John W. Aleshire; son-in-law, Harold Miller and grandson-in-law, Jim Harris.
Mrs. Graham's graveside service for family will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 6th, in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
It is the wishes of the family for no monetary or floral donations; however, cards may be sent to any family member with a fond memory of Lois.
