Norval L. Gorrell, 75, of Burlington, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Burlington Care Center.
Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Lester W. and Ruth Ferrington Gorrell. He married Barbara "Babs" M. Pfau on June 30, 1950, in Burlington. She died July 15, 2000.
Mr. Gorrell was a graduate of Burlington High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a seaman 1st class. He worked as a plumber for 50 years, retiring in 1989.
He was of the Protestant faith, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9162 and a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Amanda Gorrell of Mount Pleasant, Trent Gorrell of New London and Ryan Gorrell of Des Moines; one great-grandson; and one sister, Virginia Ita of Burlington.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter and one brother.
