Obituary

Frances Wilma Goodwin, 87, of Burlington, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010, at her home. Born July 31, 1922, in Denison, Texas, she was the daughter of Edward Newt and Estella R. Reed Stephens. She married Leonard Ray Goodwin. He died November 28, 1970. Mrs. Goodwin worked 10 years at Burlington Instrument, five years at Sylvania, and 25 years at IRC. She was a member of Moose Lodge, and lifetime member of VFW Post 10102. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Goodwin of Tupelo, Miss., and Larry R. Goodwin of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, one grandchild, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington. The funeral for Mrs. Goodwin will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington at a later date. A memorial has been established for VFW Post 10102.
