Obituary
James T. Gilmore, 58, of New London, died at 8:54 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born May 1, 1950, in Keokuk, he was the son of Billy Joe and Annie C. Howard Gilmore. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Leo P. Stamper. Mr. Gilmore was a certified master technician mechanic all his life, and worked for Cordes Motors in New London. He was a graduate of Mediapolis High School and Automotive Technical School in St. Louis. He was a Vietnam Navy veteran and was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed pool league, mushroom hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing and his grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, James P. Gilmore of Mediapolis and Matthew A. Gilmore of Davenport; two daughters, Kate Mullanack of Buffalo and Amy Gilmore of Burlington; six grandchildren; his mother; one sister, Billie Ann Good of Burlington; and two half brothers, Charles and William Gilmore, both of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather, and one son in infancy. Visitaion will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Gilmore will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established
