Clifford Hamilton Gipson, 86, of Burlington, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at his home. Born November 18, 1917, in Monroe City, Missouri, he was the son of Samuel and Jessica Lee Smith Gipson. Mr. Gipson was a truck driver for McKesson-Robbins for nine years. He was an Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed music, played saxophone and enjoyed listening to the radio when the Cubs played well. Survivors include one daughter, Vicky Gipson of Burlington; one step-son, Edward James of Burlington; six granddaughters; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his special friend of 29 years, Katherine Allen, one son, five brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Mr. Gipson will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. G. Patrick Ashby and Pastor Harold Davis Jr. officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 10102 & 9162, American Legion Post 52 and Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
