Ada Mae Gipson, 93, of Burlington died at 10:35 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2006 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born July 15, 1912, in Frankfort, Missouri, she was the daughter of J. W. and Fanny Livingston Hobbs. On August 22, 1953, she married James Everett Gispon in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He died May 1, 1964. Mrs. Gipson worked in housekeeping at the Blackhawk Hotel. She also worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, was a housewife and baby-sat. She was a member of St. John AME Church and was a member of the Sisterhood Club. She enjoyed baby-sitting. Survivors include two stepsons, Wally Gipson of St. Louis and Robert Gipson of LaGrange, Missouri; several step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eva Grace Smith of Mexico, Missouri and Helen Clay of Rock Island, Illinois Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, one stepson and one stepdaughter Rev. Steven Perkins will officiate, with burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery A memorial has been established for ST. John's AME Church.
