Obituary

M. Alice Gieselman, 89, of St.Francis Continueation Care Center, died at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at the care center. Born December 24, 1909, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Walter and Jessie Turnbull Hutcheson. She married Elmer Gieselman on February 26, 1935, in Morning Sun. He died October 15, 1991. Mrs. Gieselman was a school teacher and a homemaker. She was a 1927 graduate of Morning Sun High School, attended Sterling College, and taught in rural schools in Des Moines and Louisa counties. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as church treasurer. She especially enjoyed the work she did with the children's ministries. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Gieselman of Marshalltown, and Stanley Gieselman of Burlington; two daughters, Karen McKishen of Montrose, Colo., and Carol Gieselman of Burlington; four grand- children; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Hutcheson of Morning Sun, and Richard Hutcheson of Topeka, Kan.; nieces and nehews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Gieselman will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Purgh's Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Vance officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the First Church of the Nazarene and St. Francis Continuation Care Center.
