Mrs. Leona Mae Gibbs, 82, of Burlington died at 10:24 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at her son's home in North Liberty.
Born February 12, 1934 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Louis and Emma (Hughes) Rust. On May 30, 1953 she married Henry "Hank" Gibbs in San Diego, California. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2007.
Mrs. Gibbs was a homemaker. She was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed garage sales and loved dancing, attending concerts, music programs and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Brian (Diane) Gibbs of North Liberty; one daughter, Diana (Rodney) Balmer of Burlington; five grandchildren, Brent Gibbs, Brandon Gibbs, Brittany Gibbs, Abby Balmer Harris Bowman and Heather Columbus; and five great grandchildren, Dakota Harris and Regan Harris, Scarlett Gibbs and Shelby Gibbs and Alayna Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, May 8th, at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mrs. Gibbs will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Bracht-Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
