Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Anderson, 94, of Burlington, died at 3:29 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at Blair House Nursing and Rehab. Born September 4, 1914, in Bardolph, Illinois, she was the daughter of Thomas Edward and Mary Emma Ogden Collett. On August 31, 1935, she married Francis Peter Anderson in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1967. Mrs. Anderson was raised on a dairy farm and was considered her "father's right hand man" while working on the farm. She milked cows by hand and various other chores prior to her marriage. She attended schools in Bardolph, Oklahoma City, and Wapello. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and contributed to the building of the church. She also was a member of TOPS Mended Hearts and a coupon club, and attended refund conventions. She loved her family most in her life and time spent with them. Her other favorites were canning, gardening, crocheting, needlepoint and making quilts. Mrs. Anderson was a boom punch operator at Antenna Craft for 21 years, retiring in 1979. Survivors include six sons; Francis "Jim" (Linda) Anderson of West Burlington, Robert "Bob" (Barbara) Anderson, and H. Dean (Judy) Anderson, both of Burlington, Roger (Sandy) Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jerry (Sherry) Anderson and David (Karen) Anderson, both of Burlington; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her husband, son Donald, daughter Lois, grandson Donald, parents and a sister preceded her in death.
