Helen M. Gantz, 88, of Ellisville, MO, formerly of Burlington, died at 9:30 am Monday, January 9, 2012, at her daughter's home in Ellisville, MO. Born November 26, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Harry Lloyd and Bessie Esther Farrington Springsteen. On August 23, 1969, she married Wilford "Bill" Gantz in Monmouth, IL. He died August 4, 2008. Helen was a homemaker and retired from Campbell Chain. She was of the Lutheran faith and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara (Stan) Mumme of Ellisville, MO; one son, Steven Brown of Palm Springs, CA; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Springsteen and Kenneth Springsteen, both of Burlington; two sisters, Lois Eberhart of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Margie Reynolds of Sperry, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughters, Marilyn Kiesel. There will be no visitation. The Graveside Committal Service and Interment for Mrs. Gantz will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Wally Reynolds officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Perkins Restaurant following the interment. A memorial has been established for American Cancer Society. The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements..
