Wayne Paul Fynquist, 77, Burlington, died at Burlington Care Center, Burlington, Iowa, on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at 10:26 p.m. Born on March 3, 1934, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Everett C. and Myrtle L. Duermeyer Fynquist. He married Lucille Schulze in August of 1955. They later divorced. Wayne graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in engineering. He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an electrical engineer by Cutler-Hammer and Joe Bertch Electrical Co. He was manager of Warren Electric, and was also a self-employed sales representative. He was a past member and president of the Eagles Club in Garrett, Indiana. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was past president of the church consistory and member of First United Church of Christ, Burlington, Iowa. He is survived by one son, Joel (Renee) Fynquist of Burlington, Iowa; four daughters, Ellen (Brad) Gehring of Quincy, Illinois, Gayle (Randy) Laucamp of Tipton, Iowa, Sara (Bruce) Beckman of Burlington, Iowa, and Mary (Mike) Gates of Burlington, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Davidson of Urbandale, Iowa; two step-children, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Donna Bennett; and two step-children. Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services for Wayne Paul Fynquist will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Church of Christ, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor JudyAnn Morse will officiate. Interment of ashes will be at a later date. A memorial has been established.
