Odas Francis Furman, 86, of Burlington died at 10:45 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at Rosebush Gardens in Burlington, Iowa.Born May 25, 1919, in Williamsburg, he was the son of Leonard L. and Erma B. Giest Furman. On May 15, 1944, he married Mildred Loree Thomas in Williamsburg. Mr. Furman worked in the sheet metal trade for more than 30 years and was a worker with Local 105. He was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served with the Navy during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and Scottish rite and shrine. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William R. Furman of Burlington and Burton L. Furman of Burlington; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Pastor Kendall Adams will officiate. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. As per his wishes, his body will be cremated following the funeral service. A memorial has been established.
