Dale Howard Anderson, 85, of Burlington, died at 4 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at his home in Burlington. Born May 8, 1924, in Mediapolis, he was the son of Joseph and Esther Youngberg Anderson. On May 2, 1948, he married Mary Ann Bacher in Burlington. Mr. Anderson was employed as a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for many years. He was an Army veteran who had served during World War II. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed walking, reading and computers. Survivors include his wife of Burlington; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. There will be no formal visitation. The body has been cremated. The graveside committal and burial for Mr. Anderson will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl J. Engstrom officiating. A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Church. Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
